Safeguarding
Statement
The
Scottish Association of Motor Sports Clubs
is committed to the safeguarding of children and of adults at risk.
All Association Officers, Representatives, Delegates and Appointees
should show respect and understanding for the rights, safety and
welfare of others and conduct themselves in a way that reflects the
principles of the Association.
The
Association encourages and expects all its Member Clubs to implement
and publicise their own Safeguarding Policies for the welfare of
their members and to comply with policy, guidance and best practice
as issued by Motorsport UK.
Key
principles of safeguarding policy are:
The
welfare of the child or the adult at risk is, and must always be,
paramount to any other consideration.
All
children and all adults at risk, regardless of age, gender, ability
or disability, race, faith, culture, size, shape, language or
sexual identity have the right to be protected from abuse or harm.
All
allegations, suspicions or concerns of abuse, neglect or harm will
be taken seriously and responded to swiftly.
A
child is anyone under the age of 18 engaged in any motor sport
activity.
The
Association recognises that all children and all adults at risk have
the right to participate in sport in a safe, positive and enjoyable
environment whilst at the same time being protected from abuse,
neglect, harm and poor practice. The Association further recognises
that this is the responsibility of every adult involved, in whatever
capacity.
Any
concerns or issues in relation to safeguarding should be referred in
the first instance to the Safeguarding Officer for the relevant
Motorsport Club or Motorsport Event.
